The proposed provincial legislation for store front locations has been released. In short, it really limits the Region's ability to have much influence over the location and size of facilities. It is proposed that the Alcohol and Gaming Commission have this control. There may be amendments to the legislation, but we will not know until December.
There is also a provision for the Region to opt in or opt out of having store front locations. If the Region opts out, it can opt in at a later date.
Given the uncertainty of the legislation and what control the Region or cities will have, it is too early to make an informed decision on which way to go. I would prefer to take the time to get it right.
